Club Yachting have had a busy few days since the last update:
Last week Mike was the Instructor on a Yachtmaster Sail preparation week and exam and we are pleased that Chris and Oleg have both gained their
Yachtmaster qualifications. Both of them have been with us quite a while doing Yachtmaster Fast Track modules.
Chris started his Fastrack back in January, with some dingy experience. He has worked through all the RYA courses from Competent Crew to Day Skipper, doing his Yachtmaster Theory and Coastal Skipper as well as a lot of milebuilding weeks to gain his 2500 nm.
Oleg joined us in March and has completed Modules two and three - as well as all the 1 day RYA courses (VHF, 1st Aid, Diesel Engine and Sea Survival).
Both Chris and Oleg have also signed up for the
Yachtmaster Ocean theory courses and then a 600nm passage from Tenerife, via La Palma to Cadiz in mainland Spain.
We have also been busy with our normal courses, and our
RYA inspection. This annual event goes through all our boats: Sailing, Motor Cruising and Powerboat as well as checking our classroom and this time focusing on VHF. Its also a great time to learn about things going on with the RYA and incidents and "near misses" that have occurred over the last year - and things we can all learn from them.
